Dear Poloniex users,
Poloniex is introducing the security center and other enhancements, including linking phone numbers to accounts, in order to elevate user experience and improve account security. Please see the details below:
- A brand-new Security module: When users are logged in to the Poloniex website, 2FA on the top right of the home page is now replaced by Security. Sessions & Log In History and Change Password are also migrated to the Security section. Meanwhile, Security in Settings in the Poloniex app remains unchanged.
- Added phone verification: The newly introduced Phone Number Verification in Security allows users to link their phone numbers to their accounts in addition to emails. With the upgrade, phone numbers and emails now support the following use cases.
- Log in: Users can choose email or phone verification to log in;
- Reset or change password: Users can reset or change their passwords through email or phone verification on the website and mobile app.
- Link and disable verification: Users can change the phone number linked to their account or disable phone number verification. Users can also change the email address linked to their accounts. One phone number/email address can only be linked to one account.
- Please note that withdrawal is not supported for accounts that disabled Google Authenticator and phone verification in the past 24 hours. Please wait for 24 hours before you initiate a withdrawal. Phone numbers previously linked to Poloniex accounts cannot be linked to any other accounts if they were disabled from phone verification in the past 30 days. You must wait 30 days before linking the number to any other accounts.
- Added support for phone verification code: We have added phone verification as an additional security measure when users change their account settings. This upgrade also replaces the email verification link with an email verification code. Notes on certain cases:
- API key: SMS verification is now also required in addition to email verification when users enable, create, edit, or view an API key. No security verification is needed when disabling or deleting an API key.
- Asset withdrawal: This process keeps the current email verification link. We will make further announcements in case of any future changes.
- Scan to log in: Users can now log in to the Poloniex website using the Poloniex app. To do this, you must be logged in to the app and scan the QR code on the login page of the web app.
- You can find the scan feature on the top right of the app's home screen.
